On Friday, May 17th, 109 members of the B-L High School senior class took part in the second annual Signing Day event in the school’s gymnasium. The assembly, which was attended by the BLHS student body, parents and community members, consisted of senior students signing their name on the banner, flag, or pennant of the college, university, trade school, or military branch that they plan to attend following graduation. The University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Converse College, College of Charleston, Midlands Technical College, South Carolina State University, Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology, Fortis College, Arclabs Welding School, the United States Air Force, and the United States Marine Corps were just a few of the institutions of advanced learning where 2019 BLHS graduates plan to further their education and/or start their careers.
According to Era Roberts, the Assistant Principal of Instruction for B-L High School, the signed flags, pennants and banners (which were first signed by members of the 2018 graduating class) will be hung in hallways throughout the main BLHS building. Then, next year’s graduating class will add their names to the paraphernalia of the colleges, universities, trade schools and military branches where they plan to continue their learning.
