Panther Band Prepares For Competition Season With “unFrozen” Show

The B-L High School Panther Band has been working hard over the past several weeks to prepare for the upcoming competition season which officially kicks off on September 21st with the Moody Tournament of Bands competition at Summerville High School.  The Panther Band has high hopes of another successful competition season following last year’s wins, which included the title of 1A Lower State Champions and a second place finish at State Finals.

This year’s show is titled “unFrozen” and features music by Antonio Vivaldi, Guiseppe Verdi, Madonna and Randall Standridge.  Through song and intricate choreography, band members demonstrate the changing of the seasons, specifically the transition from icy winters to warm springtimes.  During the winter portion of the show, band members will utilize large props designed to look like giant glaciers and at one point in the middle of the show, will even become “frozen.”  Then, the props will spin around to show brighter colors and the music will become more melodic, signifying the start of spring and giving audience members the sensation of new life and opportunity.

The Panther Band is led and directed by Mr. Josh Brown.  Senior Josh Tucker serves as this year’s Drum Major. In addition to the competition in Summerville, the Panther Band will also compete in various other competitions around the state, including Lower State Finals and State Finals in late October.
