Lexington Three Plans for 2020-2021 School Year

Lexington County School District Three is working diligently to plan for the safe return of its Panther students and staff in the fall of 2020 amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Our K4 through 12th grade students and dedicated faculty are at the heart and center of all that we do in the Panther Nation. Therefore, careful thought and considerations are being made to develop data-driven processes, procedures and plans that align with recommendations from the SC Department of Education and SC Department of Health and Environmental Control, all while keeping in mind what's best for members of the Panther family. While we are anxious to return to learning in our school buildings, we want to be sure that we do so in the safest way possible,” said the school district in a statement on its website.

To assist with the task at hand, a Learning and Operations Team has been created in Lexington County School District Three. This team is composed of a wide-range of educational professionals and specialists that include Teachers of the Year from every school, the district’s lead nurse, the district’s athletic director, department chairs, principals, counselors, and administrators.

While this team has met several times to begin laying preliminary groundwork for the 2020-2021 school year, the group was ultimately waiting on the final recommendations from the AccelerateED Task Force before making and announcing extensive plans. Now that this information has been released (the final version was sent out on June 22nd), the Lexington Three Learning and Operations Team will use the report, along with data received from multiple staff and parent surveys, to create a plan for the 2020-2021 school year.

Ultimately, Lexington Three says its plan will be multifaceted and will take into account three noteworthy areas:

1) Student and staff health and safety.

2) Options for families.

3) Equitable learning for all.
