Lexington Three Administrators Announce Possibility of an E-Learning Day on Friday, March 5th

Lexington County School District Three administrators want families to know well in advance that there is a possibility that Friday, March 5th could become an E-Learning Day for all students in the district.

The final determination hinges on lawmakers' approval of teachers and school district staff being prioritized to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. The Senate unanimously approved the resolution on Tuesday, February 9th. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration. If the bill passes in the House of Representatives, Lexington Three faculty and staff members who choose to participate in a vaccination event could receive their first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, March 5th.

Teachers and staff members would need the flexibility to be out of our buildings to attend the vaccination event, which would likely be held in partnership with surrounding school districts. Therefore, administrators feel it is in the best interest of all to change March 5th to an E-Learning Day should teachers be approved to receive the shot.

Faculty and staff members will still report to work on March 5th for their regularly scheduled hours and will be given the opportunity to leave as needed to attend the vaccination event.  Students will complete assignments from home and teachers will provide instructional support through our Google platform.

More information will be forthcoming as administrators track the progress of this bill through the SC Statehouse. Please stay tuned here to our district website, social media pages, and Blackboard Connect phone messages for further details that we will provide as soon as they become available.
