Panther Band Places Second At State Competition

Congratulations to members of the B-L High School Panther Band on their second place finish in the 1A State Finals on Saturday, October 27th.  The 1A and 3A divisions of the SC Band Directors Association’s State Marching Band Championships were held at Panther Stadium. The Panther Band received the Silver Medal for the first time since 2013.

This year, the band’s show was called “ArtWorks” and through song and intricate choreography, band members demonstrated the process that an artist goes through to create a piece of artwork.  For instance, the first step for an artist is typically sketching lines and curves. Then, the artist adds balance and texture. The final step is adding color and presenting the artistic masterpiece.  The original music that was performed this year by the Panther Band was composed by Randall Standridge and the Visual Design was by Tom Padgett.

Aside from the state competition, the Panther Band also competed in five other championships across the state this season.  The band was named 1A Lower State Champions on October 20th. This was the first time the Panther Band won the SCBDA Lower State Championship since 2011.

Congratulations Panther Band on your many accomplishments this season!
