Lexington County School District Three announces that Monday, January 26th will be an eLearning Day for all students and staff in the district. District officials are closely monitoring the winter weather system that is expected to impact our area this weekend. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of South Carolina, including Lexington County. Forecasts indicate the potential for freezing rain and ice, and extremely cold temperatures could cause wintry conditions to persist into early next week, thus causing travel hazards and potential power disruptions. Lexington Three administrators prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and Panther families. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, students and staff will complete the school day remotely through our eLearning program on Monday, January 26th.
What is an eLearning Day?
An eLearning Day in Lexington Three means that students do not physically come to school. Instead, they complete assignments remotely from the safety of their home.
eLearning Details:
All students in grades K4 through 12th grade will have eLearning assignments to complete on Monday, January 26th. Students in grades K4 through 5th grade will have written assignments to complete via paper packets. These assignments will be sent home with students on Friday, January 23rd. Students in the 6th through 12th grades will have assignments to complete via Google Classroom using their district-issued Chromebook. Unless otherwise indicated by the teacher, all assignments should be turned in by no later than Monday, February 9th. Please note that internet access is not a requirement for any of the Chromebook assignments to be completed. Students who have assignments that need to be completed using a Chromebook will have the work loaded onto their Chromebook prior to leaving school on Friday, January 23rd. If internet access is not available at home, the completed assignments should be left open on your child’s Chromebook as they will automatically sync and update once the Chromebook is back inside the confines of our district internet system. Any student who has questions about an assignment can email his/her teacher.
Extracurricular Events:
All extracurricular activities scheduled for Saturday, January 24th are canceled. All after-school events including sports practices, meetings, etc. scheduled for Monday, January 26th are also canceled.
Meals:
Our Child Nutrition Department is sending home food with students on Friday, January 23rd. Parents are asked to please check their child’s bookbag for these items.
